Claude Platform adds Dreaming, automatically reviewing agents' past sessions, extracting patterns, and building memories so agents learn over time; the post received more than 1,100 likes. The new Outcomes mechanism lets users write scoring rules, with an independent grader agent checking output and driving iteration until standards are met, then delivering results through webhooks. Every CEO Dan Shipper and growth lead Austin discussed switching from Claude Code to Codex, focusing on knowledge workers' tool choices and evolving workflows in the agent era.
Shipper opened by acknowledging that Codex was poor three to six months ago, designed for pairing with advanced engineers, arguing with users, and lacking emotional intelligence. OpenAI's initial strategy was "ordinary vibe coding in ChatGPT, serious engineering in Codex," deliberately restricting Codex's scope. Anthropic demonstrated with Claude Code that putting a sufficiently usable, fast, smart, emotionally intelligent coding agent on a user's computer is highly compelling, not only to programmers but to any knowledge worker. This forced OpenAI to transform Codex substantially over the past three months.
Austin shared his "agent awakening": deep use of Claude Code CLI, connecting all his knowledge-work tasks and discovering AI's value as a thinking partner. After repeated persuasion from Shipper, he tried Codex two months ago. His first impression was, "It may be better at building apps, but it makes me feel incredibly stupid." Codex would pose three technical questions he did not understand, with an attitude of "why don't you just do what I say?"
GPT-5.5's release qualitatively changed their view. Austin believes the latest Codex and Claude Opus are largely at capability parity for knowledge work. The real difference is Codex's desktop experience: extremely fast, excellent subagents, clear folder-based persistent session management, and seamless switching between writing and coding in one interface. He now opens Codex first each morning to gather information from Gmail, Slack, Notion, Stripe, and other sources. Even event run-of-show documents are generated by Codex, pushed directly to Notion, and synchronized to Slack.
Shipper sees the competition as model companies fighting for control of the "agent management interface," each building a knowledge-work desktop app centered on a coding agent. Anthropic has Claude Code and Claude Cowork, OpenAI has Codex, XAI acquired Cursor, and only Google has yet to seriously enter this category. He expects competitors to keep overtaking one another week by week and eventually form separate ecosystems. Switching costs remain relatively low now, so he recommends knowledge workers experience Codex firsthand to understand "working in an agent-first world."
